Wetalla WRF Preliminary Treatment Area Upgrade

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Wetalla WRF Preliminary Treatment Area Upgrade includes raw sewerage screening, grit removal, flow splitting and excess flow bypass processes.  Stirloch’s scope includes:

  • Replace the rotary raked, 12mm aperture, bars screens with 6mm aperture central flow band screens and screenings screw presses;
  • Replace existing wedge wire grit dewatering equipment with a grit classifier;
  • Increase the capacity of the screening and grit removal system by providing additional screenings channels and vortex grit removal chambers;
  • Provide wet weather bypass facilities with coarse screening to permit raw wastewater flow in excess of the plant treatment capacity to be directed around the secondary treatment system and to manage overflows in the event that the screening system is blocked.
